Heralding from Wellington, The Phoenix Foundation have lived many lives. From high school distortion addicts to indie folk trippers to masters of motorik dream pop, they are a band in the truest sense: six members each bringing their own unique skills to a musical collective responsible for producing some of the country’s finest music for over a decade.

From intelligent and infectiously catchy pop/rock gems, to epic, psychedelic prog rock, their music is a glorious pop polyglot: sunbleached harmonies, chiming guitars, progressive synthscapes and subliminal rhythms, combined at the service of consistently great song-writing, yet the result never sounds like anyone else.

There is no better final act to bring the curtain down on the Wānaka Festival of Colour on this final night; the audience is advised to bring comfy shoes for an evening of toe-tapping and inevitable dancing.
