Join Our Community of Arts Enthusiasts
The Southern Lakes Arts Festival Trust are reaching out for new supporters to join our community of arts enthusiasts who fuel our festivals. As Wānaka continues to grow, we see this as an opportunity for both newcomers and long-time residents to connect with like-minded individuals who share a passion for the arts and to help ensure the future of the Wānaka Festival of Colour and Aspiring Conversations.
The Power of Local Support
“For 20 years, local support has been the backbone of our festivals,” says trust board member Mark Verbiest. “These events bring vibrancy and buzz to Wānaka, offering live performances that not only add significant economic value but also expose our community to diverse, entertaining, and challenging experiences. My wife and I are proud to contribute, especially knowing how enriching the Festival is for everyone, particularly young people.”
Artistic Director Sophie Kelly adds, “Donations help us extend our programmes, engage underserved groups, expand community day events, and enhance education for local schools. These contributions ensure an extraordinary festival experience for all and grow connections among diverse audiences.”
New Ways to Give
Recognising the current economic challenges, we have introduced a new donor platform offering flexible giving options, including monthly donations starting from as little as $31.25 to become a Patron. A generous local donor is also offering limited match funding, doubling the impact of donations made during this period.
Ensuring Future Success
Looking ahead, we aim to grow our community of donors to ensure the festivals’ continued success and deepen our community’s shared ownership of our invaluable cultural asset.
